Welcome to Cornwall Section VMCC.
Cornwall is unique in many ways; it is surrounded by sea in 3 directions, with the longest coastline, roughly 400 miles, of any English county. Compared to the rest of Britain, Cornwall’s weather is warmer and sunnier due to the subtropical microclimate. Richard Trevithick, a Cornish engineer, is famously credited with inventing the world’s first working steam road carriage at the very beginning of the 19th century, an invention directly linked to the need for efficient machinery in the local mines.
Look at a map of Cornwall and you will see it as long, about 80 miles and relatively thin, 6 miles at it's narrowest, and a meeting point in the middle will still leave some members with a round trip of approaching 100miles. To prevent such long trips we meet monthly at various locations all over the county. Runs and events in and around the Cornwall area are also organised monthly.
